Since 1994, we have been devoted to supporting India's most vulnerable seniors, offering food, medical care, and shelter through our three old-age homes. Our mission is to serve every destitute, orphaned, and abandoned elderly individual, promoting dignity, well-being, and social awareness. Inspired by the universal family principle of "Vasudeva Kutumbakam" (the world is one family), SHEOWS treats every senior as kin, extending love, respect, and essential support, ensuring they lead a dignified life.
Our dedicated rescue team consists of highly skilled professionals who are working 24x7 for the past 20 years to save the lives of our beneficiaries’ from the streets of Delhi NCR.
SHEOWS currently operate 3 old age homes 2 in Delhi (Badarpur and Chattarpur) and 1 Uttar Pradesh (Garhmukteshwar) the rescued beneficiaries are admitted to one of three old age home.
Majority of our beneficiaries rescued require immediate medical attention, upon admission our dedicated medical staff provide medical assistance to the rescued beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries are given a well-balanced meal which is catered according to their needs. SHEOWS provide a safe and hospitable environment, we can currently accommodate 500 beneficiaries and provide clean clothing to all our beneficiaries.
For prompt diagnoses and treatment SHEOWS old age homes are equipped with latest medical equipment’s like: 84 bedded Special care unit | Oxygen concentrators | Ventilators | Bi-pap machines | Pathology Lab | X-Ray Machine etc.
To alleviate stress and to amuse our beneficiaries SHEOWS organize recreational activities like musical, indoor games, celebrate festivals, theatre, etc. SHEOWS welcome several volunteers who organize these kinds of recreational activities.
SHEOWS provide a peaceful closure to our beneficiaries by cremating them as per their religious belief.
Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society (SHEOWS) is a “home away from home” for the abandoned elderly of our country. The organization is registered under the Society Registration Act of 1860 and the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act, of 1976. For the past three decades, we have been offering free shelter, food, clothing, medical care, and compassionate support to destitute, abandoned, homeless, and disabled elderly individuals, thanks to the generosity and mindfulness of our community members.
SHEOWS currently operates SHEOWS Care Centres in Delhi and Garhmukhteshwar, providing shelter, healthcare, and compassionate support to over 550 abandoned and destitute elderly residents who were once left alone on the streets with no one to care for them. These centres serve as safe and dignified homes for elderly men and women who had been neglected, abandoned, or left to survive without basic support.
Over the past 30+ years of service, SHEOWS has supported more than 12,000 elderly individuals, offering them shelter, nutritious meals, medical care, and emotional support so they can live their later years with dignity and care.
To mitigate the sufferings of elderly picked up from the streets and ensure they have a dignified life by providing them access to comfortable accommodation, nutritious food and proper healthcare.
To work for the neglected and abandoned elders left to die on the streets by their families, by providing shelter, food, and critical healthcare at our old age homes.
All these facilities are provided to the elderly completely free of cost. Most of these elders are picked up from the streets of Delhi NCR or brought in by Police/hospital authorities. Our caregivers facilitate a homely environment in the Ashrams ensure the socio-emotional well-being of the beneficiaries.
SHEOWS is currently running 2 old age homes hosting 450 elderly residents, Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram of Delhi and Garhmukhteshwar, since 2003 & 2008 respectively. These are the homes of 450 old men and women found alone and abandoned, left to die on the streets. In the last 20 years, we have provided shelter to over 7,000 elders out of which more than 2,600 have been rehabilitated and more than 4000 have been cremated.
The aim is to serve every destitute, orphan, needy, abandoned, specially challenged elderly by providing them free shelter, food, clothes, healthcare, love, and respect. We uphold a strong belief that helping aged people and spreading awareness of elder care would not only give them a new life but also reduce the issue of elder abuse in society. We believe in the notion of “Vasudeva Kutumbakam” which means that the whole world is our family and this inspires us to serve every needy old aged person as our own family member.
Donation to SHEOWS is exempted u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act,1961.
